I wonder if Mark Zuckerberg lets her daughter use FB. I want to believe that most techies started out the development as an intellectual stimulation. The problem is that once they started to understand the implications, few have the courage, self-control nor honesty to investigate their social impact.

Hey Nancy,

I know he likes his privacy, so like most other tech leaders out there he probably shields his children from this tech. Unfortunately these CEOs are legally bound within corporate structures to the profit motive, social impacts or other externalities are always secondary. Until we change or regulate how corporations function in society they will always find ruthless leaders to exploit profit at all costs. Mark Zuckerberg's sister has written about problems of social media but is reticent to make public any discussions about this topic with him. The thoughts of the masses are on public display within his platforms but his thoughts are tightly guarded.

Thank you Boodsey for another thought-provoking post. I am particular interested in this: "Our daughters are particularly vulnerable it seems." And hope you may expand on it in the future.
